Angela Johnston
Angela has always been inspired by nature- the colours, textures and geometry that lie within it. A graduate of UCA in Farnham her unique and versatile work combining both sharp, vivid imagery and fluid, organic pattern are contemporary and perfect for interior architecture. She has a love of vivid colour and bold geometrics and often uses this to create stand out designs for accessories and art prints.
We first met Angela at New designers where we originally saw the artwork for 'Cracked Ice' displayed as a wall hanging, which had formed part of a university course project that found her out in the woods taking photographs of frozen puddles. Working together with Angela we played with colour and scale to transform the original wall hanging into a fully repeating digital print. To show off the angular lines in the pattern we decided to use a clean fresh base cloth of 100% linen with just one sharp printed line creating the pattern.
Angela has recently relocated to Edinburgh where she works freelance designing to brief for specific commissions as well as developing her natural design style and effortless ability to combine organic and geometric forms to create intriguing and exciting patterns.
